Adjust the quality
WebP at a quality of around 80 is usually indistinguishable from the original and weighs several times less. If the image is going on a blog, bring the width down to 1600 px — nobody will see anything larger.

No. The file is read from your disk and re-encoded right in the browser — nothing goes to a server and nothing is stored. When you close the page, the list disappears.
At the same visible quality, WebP weighs about 25–35% less than JPG and supports transparency like PNG. All modern browsers have supported it for years.
WebP and JPEG are lossy — that’s why there’s a slider. Between 75 and 85 the difference is barely visible, while below 60 it starts to show in smooth gradients, such as sky or skin. PNG is lossless, so the slider doesn’t apply there.
If the original is already a heavily compressed JPG, re-encoding it rarely gains anything. The same goes for screenshots with few colors — they work better as PNG than as JPEG.
Up to 30 MB per file and up to 20 files at once. The limit is due to browser memory — larger volumes are better handled with a desktop program.
